Upon dialogue between Mukhtar Rana and a number of activists in The Land
is
Ours, the following proposal has originated, to be further proposed for
discussion at a meeting of activists from all over Europe, which is to
be
held in Luton next weekend (see for more details below).

Idea for international conference on (working title) -
"Addressing the foundations of capitalism : International land rights
and the
legacy of colonialism".

THIS CONFERENCE COULD BE PART OF MAYDAY 2000, IF PEOPLE FELT IT WAS AN
IDEA
WORTH GOING FOR. The timing of when it will happen depends on those who
want
to take it on, but has now been put out on the MayDay 2000 discussion
list.
As an essential accompaniment to the Conference, the proposal is likely
to
suggest that there should be an action related to the themes being
discussed
(since in the words of Gerrad Winstanley, "Action is the life of all, if
thou
dost not act, thou dost nothing).

The meeting next weekend of activists from all around Europe, all of
whom are
involved with PGA, and have also been involved in the Caravan, is taking
place at the Exodus Collective, Haz Manor, off Barton Road (A6), Luton,
between Saturday 6th Nov -to- Sunday 7th Nov. Overnight sleeping place
is
limited, but the nearest station is Leagrave, one stop after Luton, and
direct train route from London. Phone 07801 708 496 on the day if you
need
more directions to get there on the day, and advice about train info
(i.e. if
Thamelink break the habit of a lifetime on the day and start checking
tickets, no barriers, though we of course strongly advise that everyone
buys
a ticket).
