THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY ARE ASKING THE PUBLIC FOR THEIR COMMENTS ON
BRITAIN'S LARGEST SOURCE OF ANTHROPROGENIC RADIOACTIVITY -- THE MAGNOX
NUCLEAR POWER PROGRAMME. RESPONSES REQUIRED BY 31ST AUGUST 2000!!
Please forward this email widely. Also, please print-off and distribute the
briefing on the website too!
FOR FULL DETAILS SEE:
The Magnox 'combined response' web site:

Hi all,
At the International Low Level Radiation Conference that took place in
Reading during July, a number of delegates representing different groups
around the UK decided that a combined response was needed to the
Environment Agency's consultation on
the Magnox power station radioactive discharge authorisations.
A combined technical report is being prepared by consultants, paid for by
donations from a large number of campaign groups. But we also need the
public to voice their concerns -- in fact for the legal battles that will
inevitably follow it is essential that members of the public also object.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no restriction on AGE or NATIONALITY for those who
may wish to respond.
This event allows us a real opportunity to restrict the impacts of the
nuclear industry on our land and seas. We are asking that as many people as
possible object to the current proposals. The briefing available on the
website outlines the main issues that you may wish to make objections upon.
As the process develops over the coming months this site will be updated
with new information to keep people informed on what's happening with the
consultation process.
*** But remember, your objection has to be with the Environment Agency by
Thursday 31st August! ***
