The Phantom Conservation Volunteers are calling a
SUMMER SOLSTICE MASS TRESPASS
Against the destruction of a quarter of a mile of old chalk grassland
SUNDAY 20th JUNE

This spring a local farmer bulldozed and ploughed the old Down
pasture hillside known as Scabby Brow, at Ashcombe Farm between Lewes
and Falmer. The law is clear: destruction of this natural habitat
requires an environmental impact assessment. None was done.
Will the farmer restore this site? Will he be prosecuted? THAT
DEPENDS ON OUR PRESSURE.
This farm has trashed other old chalk grassland refuges, closed
historic footpaths, and bulldozed an ancient bostal track and burial
mound to provide a motorway for combine harvesters. But their attempt
to race cars across the open Down was successfully opposed by direct
action.

Meet 12.00 noon (PROMPT) SUNDAY 20th JUNE
at St PETERS CHURCH on THE LEVEL
Bring water & a picnic & money for the bus. Wear good boots & have
sun protection.
