468 families threatened with eviction in downtown Sao Paolo

THE BIGGEST SQUAT OF LATIN AMERICA WILL BE EVICTED – CALL OF SOLIDARITY

In the centre of Sao Paolo, subject to heavy speculative pressure, 468
of families occupy an empty building, organising by the the MSTC –
without housing movment of the center town. Some of these families have
already been evicted, others are threatened with the same fate.

Until 4 years, the families tryed to negociated with the city for the
rehabilitation of the building and to be turn it into a public housing.

No-Vox network organised the 15th of june of 2006 an daily action of
solidarity in front of the brazilian embassy in Paris, Tokyo and
Lisboa.

With more determination, No-Vox demand that these eviction be stopped
and the opening of negotiations with local and state authorities with
the support of the federal government.

We request that Brazilian authorities and all the different levels of
government concerned, local or state, put an end to the use of forceful
eviction and open discussion with the inhabitants of the neighbourhoods
struggling to find solutions which respect the right to decent housing.
