I think the time is ripe for this.
A PEOPLES ASSEMBLY INCORPORATES PROTECTION OF THE LAND INTO THE CONSTITUTION
Exploitation of people by means of the land is long established in history
The heir to the monarchy is perhaps to-day ,the biggest personal
beneficiary of building several thousand houses (why?) on land he
monopolises at Poundbury in Dorset. C.A.P. subsidies, Tithes, Enclosures,
the Royal land grab ('Dissolution of the monasteries' ), the Charles's
Forest Laws, the Abbey lands, the manorial system, even '1066' are past
examples. The new 'Housing Monopoly Game' is only the current version. The
land barons institutionalised their holdings into the constitution as the
'House of Lords'. Also until late nineteenth century, membership of House
of Commons and even the right to vote was confined to landowners. The
monarchy is or was the biggest landowner- 'History' itself as it justifies
the Duchy of Cornwall's ownership of 137,000 acres by what ? a grant of
land in 1337, is currently being subverted to the monopoly cause.
"I have said before how much I admire the foresight of Edward lll
And the structure put in place when he created the Duchy of Cornwall in
1337. The longer I work for the Duchy the more my admiration grows ,
because the structure has so well achieved its primary aim of maintaining
and developing an estate which fully reflects the Duke of Cornwall's
wishes."
.quotation from the Secretary's Report, The Duchy Review,
2002
Mr W A Ross , above, fails to note that such a 'structure' would be illegal
to-day since it involved the transfer of rights over the lives and labour of
the occupants . It fails also to note the genocide only nine years
previously when the people of southern Scotland had been ravaged by the
same king's armies .
ALL THREE ESTATES OF GOVERNMENT HAVE A TRADITION OF EXPLOITING PEOPLE BY
MEANS OF THE LAND AND THEN INSTITUTIONALISING THIS WITHIN THE STRUCTURE OF
GOVERNMENT
It is suggested here that constitutional reform is the basis of land reform.
Campaigning for a Peoples' Assembly is campaigning for land reform and
campaigning for reform of the insane housing market, campaigning for
democracy and campaigning for sanity.
The 1947 Town &Country Planning Act was subsequently subverted by
landowners who lost the right to develop but retained the sole right to
apply for development and were paid then in £millions for the 'lost'
privilege and now sell the land with p.p. at £1.25million an acre!
The House of Lords cemented this exploitation within the
constitution. It is therefore appropriate now to safeguard the land from
future exploitation by replacing the House of Lords by the Assembly of the
People, charged for ever with safeguarding people from being exploited by
means of land ownership -especially building land ownership-monopoly
---which certainly has more authenticity in a democracy
