Sid Rawle passed away on Tuesday aged 64

Sid Rawle, veteran peace campaigner, free festival organiser, and 
former leading light of the London squatters movement, collapsed and 
died on a field at Broadoak, near Newnham, Gloucestershire, on the 
afternoon of 31st August 2010, aged 64. His death was immediate and 
painless, and came right at the end of a very successful Rainbow 2000 
Gathering. Sid was known to sensational British tabloid journalists 
as 'The King of the Hippies', though it was not a title he ever 
claimed for himself. He was born at Exford, Somerset, the son of a 
horse-dealer on Exmoor, and was educated at Minehead Comprehensive 
(now the West Somerset Community College).
