C.A.P.leafleting campaign

Activating the London population has been crucial to achieving reform in 1066 in the Peasants Revolt and to  the Chartists campaign etc.
To  stop the exploitation of people, now landless, now  that they have become dependent on the landowning monopolists for housing, for food production  and for funding political parties , increasing awareness of CAP payments in £billions to millionaires as so called  Common Agricultural Policy payments is  a step to bring about change.
A leaflet explaining what CAP is and who gets paid is being prepared . 
Many people don't know about CAP payments  .To give a positive direction to reform the following headings  summarise  the changes that  tax-payers might want if they knew where their money is going.

Can I have comments please and  suggestions for  other reform measures?

Are there other groups who want to  claim ownership of the  leaflet? 

Support for leafleting  (in London and elsewhere) would be appreciated.

GENUINE C.A.P. REFORMS WOULD BE DEMOCRATICALLY  DETERMINED BY AN INFORMED ELECTORATE .

     They would
likely  include –

 

Payments to individuals only , not to  companies

 

Favour small farmers - 
marginalize agribusiness

 

Set upper limit 
(£24,000?) on annual  payments 

 

Progressively reduce payments from £4billion currently (to £1bn
?)

 

Make payments as low interest loans not outright
grants

 

Use land ownership as security where possible


                        - so build up nationally owned
land-bank

 

Expose  NFU  and Agri-business lobbying  in Westminster,

              And
in  Brussels and on BBC
Farming programmes 

Set  annual
budgets with ref  to achieve home grown food 

 

Sharpen 
effectiveness of 
environmental  schemes 

 

ABOVE ALL   MAKE  PAYMENTS TRANSPARENT 

TO UK  TAXPAYERS WHO FUND THE SCHEMES.

 

The first step is to
set C.A.P. awareness targets above the present 15 % baseline (measured by Eurobarometer
Poll)

 

The second step  is BBC ‘Farming Today’ to feature CAP
payments.
