The FAO's International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and
Agriculture (IT-PGRFA) had claimed by last September that they were 10
years old (that makes it another best kept secret of a gloabl
organisation!!) and has 'achieved' FAO Job Number: MA7240!

A very worrying development.
Patent industry seems to have carried on with some of the tricks tried
when they tried to justify imposing patentability on Software (and
failed last time around in 2003) in the European Patent Office.
In the case of software there were similar licencing concepts thrust
upon unsuspecting enthusiasts who were getting involved in to the
Software development realms.
There are some reports that the IT-PGRFA has been observed lurking
silently in the front rows of two conferences on IPR issues and would
like to hear from anyone who may be familiar with any of their
activities or even if they have observed their presence!
Thanks.
