There is a tidal wave of extreme energies threatening the planet. Our
present system is addicted to fossil fuels, and is turning to more
desperate and more extreme measures to feed its habit. The decline in
easy-to-reach coal means that new, massively destructive techniques Open
Cast Coal Mining, Coal Bed Methane (CBM) and Underground Coal Gasification
(UCG) are all being pioneered in the UK. This means ecological
destruction on a mass scale for the sake of profit. This means it’s time
to take action.

Take Back the Land! 12-18 July Douglas Valley action camp

Coal Action Scotland have invited one and all to Take Back the Land with a
week-long camp and day of mass action against open cast coal in the
Douglas Valley, South Lanarkshire.

Frack off will be joining Coal Action Scotland and you should too!

On the morning of Friday 13th we will be facilitating a workshop on the
forms of Extreme Energy that are threatening Scotland on a massive scale,
and discussing what could be done about it. With 60 CBM planning
applications accepted across the UK, and over half of them in Scotland,
the time for organisation and action is now.

In order to put a stop to these destructive technologies people need to
work together. This will be an opportunity to meet people from your local
area who also want to form groups, build the movement, and take action.

We join CAS in calling all those wishing to take or support actions in
solidarity with community self determination, against destructive fossil
fuel industries and towards a more sustainable and just society, to come
to South Lanarkshire from 12-18th July and Take Back the Land!
