A GROUP fighting to reduce the size of a controversial development in
Cirencester kept up its relentless questioning of a councillor this week.
Members of Save Our Cirencester once again quizzed

District Council
(<http://www.wiltsglosstandard.co.uk/news/14505261.Save_Our_Cirencester_keep_up_relentless_scrutiny_of_2_350_home_Chesterton_development/http://www.cotswold.gov.uk/>CDC)
deputy leader Nick Parsons with 10 questions on the 2,350-home
Chesterton development at full council meeting on Tuesday.
Patrick Moylan questioned a new report commissioned by CDC which
found an additional 800 houses needed to be built in the district to
satisfy Government criteria.
He said that a lack of "local context" could mean the report was
flawed, leaving the Cotswolds lumped with more houses than needed to be built.
Cllr Parsons said: "The Local Plan has produced what the council
considers to be a sustainable strategy that will deliver future
development needs taking account of all relevant evidence."
In response to a question on whether the 2,350-home development would
be debated by the full council, Cllr Parsons revealed it would not.
Instead a "special meeting" of the planning committee will decide
whether to pass the application. This is expected to happen sometime in autumn.
Other questions surrounded the quality of the land that would be
buried under concrete and whether the development should be passed
before the Local Plan is seen by the Planning Inspector.
