Shortly after the Norman Conquest a motte and bailey castle was constructed at Hawarden, North Wales by Hugh Lupus, Earl of Chester (Hugh d'Avranches) 1047-1101

The Dukes of Westminster (Grosvenor's) are descended from Hugh Lupus.

Pictures attached of Hawarden Castle Main Gate.

Clearly shown are the Double Headed Eagles of the Holy Roman Empire, the 'Leg of Italy' and the 'Hand' (a sign of the Roman Legion often displayed on Legion standards).

Does the Roman Empire have a hand in any of this modern madness?
