Report 2025

This is a magical one day environmental fair in a
beautiful setting on the Somerset Levels run
entirely by volunteers using wind, sun and muscle
power. Excellent live music, over 100 stalls
displaying traditional skills, crafts and
produce, lively environmental debates, delicious
organic local food, a variety of the best ales
and ciders and a large kids area with activities throughout the day.

The Green Scythe Fair includes the celebrated
West Country Scythe Championship, known far and
wide for the stupendous and often hilarious feats
of haymaking by international scythesmen and
women, who mow a swathe through the summer
festival scene. It is probably the most
authentic, and enjoyable, country fair in all England!

As the Green Scythe Fair continues to aim for
minimal environmental impact, we are asking
visitors to bring their own reusable plates, cups
& cutlery to help achieve zero waste created at the event.

This is an environmental event as well as a
working farm so parking is limited in an effort
to avoid pollution. We would encourage you to
lift share, where possible. More details on our
<https://www.greenfair.org.uk/getting-there>Getting There page.

Dogs

The Green Scythe Fair venue is in a working farm,
therefore we would prefer it if you didn’t bring
your dog. Please bear in mind some children and
adults are scared by dogs, so in a crowded fair
this can spoil the day for those folks.

This year we are charging £10 per dog.

However, if you feel the need to bring your dog
you are expected to assume full responsibility
for the dog at all times and to read and abide by
the dog policy
(<https://www.greenfair.org.uk/dog-policy>see
here). All dogs must be kept on a short lead at
all times – this will be monitored by Green Fair
staff. All dog waste must be picked up and please
use biodegradable bags so it can be composted
correctly. If not strictly adhered to you will be
politely asked to leave with no redress. Guide
dogs, of course, are very welcome.

The Green Scythe Fair is run by volunteers – we
take all reasonable steps to make it a safe
environment, but we cannot be held responsible or
liable for any loss, damage, theft, illness or
injury arising at or as a result of the Fair, however caused.

Children remain the responsibility of
parents/carers at all times; please keep dogs on
leads. Please report all accidents at once to the staff at the Site Info Tent.

    * Car parking on site (priority areas for
disabled parking and bicycle parking)
    * Doors open 11am – Car park open from 10am
    * Camping available (see: <https://www.greenfair.org.uk/camping>here)
    * Come by bike to the Fair, reduce your

<https://www.greenfair.org.uk/bike-mots>free bike
MOT (first come first serve – spaces limited).
