The Queen lobbied the Government in 1970s to hide her “embarrassing
private wealth”, it is claimed.<br><br>
Government memos in the National Archives reveal that the monarch’s
private lawyer put pressure on ministers to change proposed legislation
in order to hide how much cash she has.<br><br>
According to the documents the changes were made in the 1970s which
resulted in a state-backed shell corporation being created which kept The
Queen’s private shareholdings and investments secret from the public
until at least 2011.<br><br>
Although Her Majesty’s true wealth has not been revealed it is estimated
to be hundreds of millions of
pounds,<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/feb/07/revealed-queen-lobbied-for-change-in-law-to-hide-her-private-wealth">
<i> The Guardian </a></i>reports.<br><br>
It is believed the monarch made the changes through a parliamentary
procedure, known as Queen’s consent, which means she must be consulted
before legislation can be approved by parliament.<br><br>

It also requires ministers to alert the Queen when legislation might
affect either the royal prerogative or the private interests of the
crown.<br><br>
According to the royal family’s website it is “a long established
convention”.<br><br>
It is also regarded by constitutional scholars as a ‘harmless example of
the elaborate ceremonies that monarch takes part in’.<br><br>
According to the papers created in November 1973, The Queen feared
a proposed bill to bring transparency to company shareholdings would
result in the public scrutinising her finances.<br><br>

<h2><b>Lawyer told to pressure Government</b></h2>It is claimed that she
then asked her private lawyer to press the government to make
changes.<br><br>
Matthew Farrer allegedly spoke with civil servants at the then Department
of Trade and Industry about proposed transparency measures in the
Government’s companies bill.<br><br>
The bill was put in place to prevent investors from secretly building up
significant stakes in listed companies.<br><br>
According to documents at the meeting, Farrer explained the Queen’s
objection that the law would reveal her private investments in listed
companies and their their value.<br>

He proposed that The Queen should be exempted.<br><br>
A civil servant called CM Drukker wrote on 9 November: “I have spoken to
Mr Farrer.”<br><br>
“As I had recalled he – or rather, I think, his clients – are quite as
concerned over the risk of disclosure to directors of a company as to
shareholders and the general public. He justifies this not only because
of the risk of inadvertent or indiscreet leaking to other people but more
basically because disclosure to any person would be
embarrassing.”<br><br>
Thomas Adams, a specialist in constitutional law at Oxford University
claims the documents reveal “the kind of influence over legislation that
lobbyists would only dream of”.<br>

This has taken place in many other instances across America and
demonstrates how Bormann’s people operate in the contemporary commercial
world, in contrast to the fanciful nonsense with which Nazis are
described in so much “literature.”<br><br>
So much emphasis is placed on select Jewish participation in Bormann
companies that when Adolf Eichmann was seized and taken to Tel Aviv to
stand trial, it produced a shock wave in the Jewish and German
communities of Buenos Aires. Jewish leaders informed the Israeli
authorities in no uncertain terms that this must never happen again
because a repetition would permanently rupture relations with the Germans
of Latin America, as well as with the Bormann organization, and cut off
the flow of Jewish money to Israel. It never happened again, and the
pursuit of Bormann quieted down at the request of these Jewish leaders.
He is residing in an Argentinian safe haven, protected by the most
efficient German infrastructure in history as well as by all those whose
prosperity depends on his well-being.'<br>
