In the news this week

It may be Valentine’s day but there is little in the way of cheery news to
report in this week’s News Brief. That is of course unless you are a banker,
when you will love the fact that you have managed to receive over twice as
much in bonuses as you have paid out in corporation tax since 2008. Perhaps
that’s one reason why so many ordinary working people turned out in support
of our Hands off our Unions rally earlier in the week. Workers know that the
best way to curtail the financial greed and the exploitative practices of
employers is to strengthen the bargaining position of trade unions.
