Many thanks to all those who attended our packed out TUC Fringe this Sunday, co-hosted by the Campaign for Trade Union Freedom and General Federation of Trade Unions.

Speaker Ian Lavery, Shadow Minister for Trade Unions, backed the Institute of Employment Rights' Manifesto for Labour Law <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=3d71875be6&e=71131c031b> - 25 policy proposals for the next Labour government - and promised that a Corbyn-led government would repeal anti-trade union laws within its first 100 days.

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell spoke at our post-event social to give a resounding endorsement to the Manifesto, while union leaders joined us at our stall <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=1610e50a3b&e=71131c031b> to offer their support.

An easy-to-read summary <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=4aedc3752c&e=71131c031b> of the Manifesto is now available on our website.

As Tony Burke, Assistant General Secretary of UNITE, said in a speech <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=32ecc732b3&e=71131c031b> at Congress, now is the time to get behind the Manifesto - the principle aim of which is to shift the focus of labour law to collective bargaining rather than statutory minimums in order to encourage rising standards at the workplace. With Labour's leadership now the most progressive it has been in decades, real alternatives to austerity can finally be debated at Westminster.

But we can't do this alone. As a charity, we rely on donations to continue drafting policy proposals and raising awareness of these across the country. You can help us in our aims by purchasing a copy of the Manifesto <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=663c29a3a6&e=71131c031b> for just £10 or making a one-off donation <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=3c266d2aa0&e=71131c031b> to our project development fund.

To underline why a new deal for workers is so critical for the UK, we have relaunched our Conservative Timeline <http://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=8ab1f4a85e&e=71131c031b> today. This free resource, unique to the IER, has tracked the actions of both Coalition and Tory governments over the last six years to undermine workers' rights.

The Conservative Government’s proposed strike ballot thresholds: The challenge to trade unions: from £6
By Professor Ralph Darlington and Dr John Dobson
According to the authors of this timely report, the government is attempting to rush into law ‘the most sweeping and radical tightening of rules on industrial action since the Thatcher era of the 1980’s’. They warn that such proposals could result in ‘the biggest showdown over industrial relations for a generation’ and go on to drill down into one aspect of the government’s proposals – strike ballots.

The mythology of business: from £6
By David Whyte
The ‘myths’ that this publication takes into consideration are the kind of things that politicians now routinely say without thinking. Yet these 10 myths have very little foundation in reality and are rarely, if ever, accompanied with any concrete evidence to support them.
