[IER] McDonnell vows to re-legalise sympathy action

Earlier this week, John McDonnell told a meeting at Airdrie that a Labour government would reinstate the right for UK workers to take solidarity action <https://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=29ce6f7349&e=71131c031b>  in support of their international peers - a right taken by Thatcher's government three decades ago.

The Shadow Chancellor remembered the Scottish Rolls Royce workers who refused to work on engines that would be used to power Pinochet's airforce in Chile, describing it as "fantastic example of the operation of trade union rights".

He went on to reiterate his commitment to implementing the recommendations made in the Institute of Employment Rights' Manifesto for Labour Law <https://ier.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f121e48a8bb6d3101590c12d3&id=c7f2eb3db6&e=71131c031b> , including establishing a Ministry of Labour, reinstating sectoral collective bargaining, and providing workers with equal rights from day one.
