DWP discriminates against disabled more than any other employer
In what has been described as a "horrible irony", new figures have revealed that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which is responsible for identifying and protecting those not 'fit for work', discriminates against its own workers more than any other when it comes to disability.
Over four years, the department was taken to tribunal 134 times by DWP workers claiming they had been mistreated by their employer because of their disability.
The average employer loses 3% of these kinds of cases, but the DWP lost 13% and settled out of court 45 times.
Overall, it has paid out nearly £1 million in compensation, the figures, which were released by BBC's Panorama, revealed.
This is the third story in as many weeks about the government's poor practice as an employer, with Dominic Cummings and Priti Patel at the centre of two high-profile cases regarding claims of a bullying culture at the heart of government.
