Commons backs “profound and chilling” judicial review reform

While the nation was distracted by this week's underwhelming budget, described as <https://twitter.com/RhonddaBryant/status/1453330294451355657?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw> embarassing by one Labour MP, the government was making "profound and chilling" changes to its people's ability to seek justice.
The Judicial Review and Courts Bill was voted through to Commitee Stage in the Commons on Tuesday, supported by all Conservative and DUP MPs. The legislation will stop judicial review rulings from applying retrospectively, therefore ensuring that any time the government is found to be acting unlawfully, its victims cannot be compensated.
"As more people are left without the redress they deserve, many more will be put off bringing their own claim, even if those were perfectly valid." Shadow Justice Secretary, David Lammy, pointed out.
"As a result, unlawful decisions made by the Government—by any Government, of any colour or stripe—or a public body will go unchallenged. Perhaps, however, that is what the Government want.”
