Its proposals focus on raising workers' awareness of their existing rights, but neglects to provide new ones outside of small tweaks such as a right to a payslip and written terms and conditions.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;line-height:13.5pt'><span style='color:#45494E'>The government has offered vague promises to better enforce the law, including through harsher penalties for the worst offenders, and a crackdown on those illegally employing unpaid interns (a breach considered to be widespread, but for which no employer has ever been prosecuted).<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;line-height:13.5pt'><span style='color:#45494E'>Elsewhere, there remains great uncertainty over how the UK's exit from the EU will affect UK employment law.
