Job Vacancy

Office Manager
Scientists for Global Responsibility

40% full-time equivalent (15 hours/week)
£19,621 [SCP 22] pro rata
Permanent post (following a probationary period)

Scientists for Global Responsibility (SGR) is seeking a new Office Manager to
take over after the planned retirement of its long-standing current Office
Manager.

SGR is a small but influential research and campaign organisation that
promotes science, design and technology that contribute to peace, social
justice, and environmental sustainability. It has a membership of about 1000
natural and
social scientists, engineers, IT professionals and architects.

SGR is seeking a self-motivated and conscientious individual to run its office
and support the organisation's Executive Director. The main tasks will
include financial administration, maintaining the membership database,
assisting the Director to organise the annual conference, and general office
oversight. The post will include recruitment and management of volunteers to
assist with tasks such as postal mailings and administration.

SGR is in the process of moving its office to a new eco-development near
Lancaster. The post will include an initial handover from the current
post-holder to allow familiarisation with the existing office and accounting
procedures. The ideal work pattern would be three hours a day, five days a
week, but this is negotiable. There would be a six-month probationary period.
