* Cars and climate change: the need for more ambition

With climate talks reaching a crucial point in Poland, Prof John Whitelegg,
Liverpool John Moores University, argues that major reductions in transport
pollution are only achievable if we set our sights beyond electric vehicles
and driverless cars.

* Science4Society education workshops

SGR's Dr Jan Maskell will be running three workshops for science teachers at
the 2019 conference of the Association for Science and Education on 9th/10th
January. These will cover: 'globally responsible' careers; media
(mis)reporting of science; and carbon footprints of food.

* Science4Society Week - 2019 competition

SGR's Science4Society Week 2019 competition theme is 'Globally Responsible
Careers'. It is open to any age, entries can be from either groups or
individuals, and there are different options for the format of submission. The
closing date is Friday 1st March 2019 - so plenty of time for science clubs,
extended projects, lessons or homework.
