* Holding the UK to account for its role in the war in Yemen

Prof Anna Stavrianakis, University of Sussex, explains how UK arms exports to
Saudi Arabia have helped fuel the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, and
assesses efforts to stop these exports.

* The threats from emerging military technologies

As NATO marks its 70th anniversary, Dr Stuart Parkinson, SGR, highlights the
serious risks from the race for new weapons technologies. Examples include
cyber weapons, hypersonic weapons and directed energy weapons.

* Science4Society Week 2020

The S4S Week 2020 competition for students is online and the theme this year
is pollution and waste in its many forms - TRASH 'Take Responsibility and Show
How'. Lesson plans, activities and ideas for the competition are available on
the website.

Please share with your networks - teachers and anyone working with young
people. The closing date is 28th February 2020, and the winners will be
announced during S4S Week, which runs from 7th to 15th March.
