The website that aims to reveal all about landownership in Scotland is now
up and running. Over 90% of the county of Nairn and 65% of the county of
Caithness are loaded and searchable by map or text.
Have a look and let me know what you think.
We have managed to raise over GBP18,000 so far for the project and are
particularly grateful to the individuals who, between them, provided GBP
8,000 which enabled us to get started. We are now launching Phase II of the
fundraising appeal with a target of raising a further GBP 25,000 by the end
of September (the total project budget is GBP 75,000 - further details on
the website).
Any suggestions would be welcome. One of the most helpful things in this
regard is to spread awareness of the initiative. Through time, this can
yield interest in financial support. So if you can link any websites you are
involved with to whoownsscotland and email details of the site to others I
would be very grateful.
I am hoping to interest organisations in the public and private sectors in
both the website and the raw GIS files which underpin it. If anyone has
sympathetic contacts in any sector, please let me know.
Meantime, I'd welcome any feedback on the content, design and performance of
the site.
Best wishes
Andy Wightman
