"The GM Bill: Problem or Solution to the Growing of GM Crops in the UK"

Saturday 31st January 2004.

The Swansea Environment Centre,
Pier Street,
Swansea

A meeting to look at the new law -- the Genetic Modification (Contamination
and Liability) Bill -- proposed by Friends of the Earth, and whether it is
the appropriate solution to the imminent commercialisation of GM crops in the
UK. Does this Bill make growing GM crops harder for the biotech industry, or
is it breaking the "no GM crops" consensus within the environment movement by
accepting that these crops will be grown in the UK.

Organised by The Earth Cymru Network.

"We are not for names, nor men, nor titles of Government, nor are we for
this party nor against the other but we are for justice and mercy and
truth and peace and true freedom, that these may be exalted in our nation,
and that goodness, righteousness, meekness, temperance, peace and unity
with God, and with one another, that these things may abound."
(Edward Burroughs, 1659 - from 'Quaker Faith and Practice')
