Now it's become political, in France at least -- we have, at last, and 
announcement by one of the world's major economies:

« Nous avons, en 2009, atteint le pic de production en matière de pétrole. La 
production ne peut maintenant que décroître, alors même que la croissance de 
l’économie mondiale a retrouvé un train de 4,5% », a déclaré  le premier 
ministre François Fillon le 5 avril devant l’Assemblée nationale.

Well, roughly translated --
"We have, in 2009, attained the peak of oil production. Production can now 
only fall, even though the growth of the world-wide economy rose 4.5%", 
declared the Prime Minister François Fillon on the 5th April in front of the 
National Assembly.


Somehow, I can't quite see that Cameron or Osborne would stand up and say that 
(they'd probably let Clegg get the blame for it).
