Hiya

Since we last emailed you the Lords debate on squatting got re-scheduled due to an enormous backlog of debates regarding the Legal Aid, Sentencing, and Punishment of Offenders Bill.

Clause 130 on squatting wasn't debated at committee stage last Thursday but instead is due to be held this Wednesday 15th February.

We suggest that you email the Peer/s you are lobbying again with a little reminder of the change of date. Even if they haven't got back to you yet, another email could encourage them to attend the debate. See below for a wee template which you're welcome to use.

You can keep up with housing and squatting discussions on our blog.

Thanks to your efforts more Peers are engaging with the issue and with our campaign. We've succeeded in finding a Labour Peer to put his name to the amendments along with the Lib Dem Peer who tabled them, but we still need a crossbench peer to do the same. Please keep us informed of any updates.

Keep in touch, and thanks again.

Francis

Dear ...

You may be aware that the committee stage debate on Squatting laws (clause 130 of the LASPO bill) has been pushed back to compensate for the high level of debates thrown up by the bill.

It was re-scheduled and is due to be debated this Wednesday 15th February.

If you haven't already seen the briefing paper by Squash (Squatters' Action for Secure Homes) you can read it here.

We hope you can attend the debates and support the amendments tabled by Baroness Miller.

Yours sincerely
