Yep!! -- the solutions environmentalists should be working towards are 
small-scale, local, and inextricably bound to the land and closing the 
resource loops between natural cycles and the human system....

....a pity then that every major mainstream campaign group preaches from 
the charter of "technology will save us"  :-(
