I always enjoy Uri Avnery's columns in the Morning Star. He is always insightful and offers loads of new information...but is he constrained by his own version of liberal - two state - zionism...

For a more robust and utterly impolite, vituperative, amusing, and profoundly learned anti-zionist alternative try reading 'Tony Greenstein's blog'...(just google that)...Tony is a life-long (jewish) anti-fascist and socialist organiser in Brighton and co-founded and co-runs the Brighton Unemployed Workers Centre. Some of you will know him...He is the archetypal 'rough diamond'...

Any idea of a two state solution is nonsense...It would actually be a recipe for bantustans... with a big Israeli jewish state on all the best (flatter, fertile, unitary, coastal) land, whilst the palestinian bantustans took the (mostly hilly, barren, fragmented, often uncultivable) rump...

And the two/three palestinian bantustans (call them ghettoes, if you wish) would be subject to ongoing israeli bullying, manipulation and domination...and vicious military pogroms when they fought back.

As importantly, the two state solution would be taken as a cue by ever-more-rightward-moving-zionism for expulsion of the remaining palestinian israeli population from jewish israel...After all, if the palestinians can have their own ethnically homogenous state, then why can't they ???

The only solution is the solution that has ALWAYS been the policy of anti-zionist arab and jewish socialist revolutionaries...for a single secular state for all the peoples on the combined territory of palestine/israel...with an end to the zionist apartheid state, the reversal of land expropriations, a right of return for expelled palestinian families and an end to the utterly spurious jewish right of return.

All people of that land - jews, arabs, all faiths and none - can then live in respect for each others right to full citizenship, democracy and equality,
