We've been working hard over the autumn laying 
the groundwork for our new campaign,

Ministry of Justice opposes factory pig farm in Foston, Derbyshire

In what is expected to be a significant 
development in the long-running battle between 
Midland Pig Producers (MPP) and local Foston 
Community Forum campaigners over a proposed 
25,000 unit intensive pig facility in Foston, the 
Ministry of Justice has written to Derbyshire 
County Council to oppose granting planning 
permission.

Small-scale organic farming only way to feed the world

There is an urgent need to halt 
chemically-intensive and corporate-dominated 
farming methods such as GMOs and 
monoculture-based crops, and return to (and 
develop) more sustainable, natural and organic farming systems.

That was the key point of a new publication from 
the UN Commission on Trade and Development 
(UNCTAD) titled 
“<http://pigbusiness.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=62434df9a66146b4fb4f8b14e&id=9832188cb2&e=cee5793cb2>Trade 
and Environment Review 2013: Wake Up Before It Is 
Too Late,” which included contributions from more 
than 60 experts around the world.

The report calls for, "a rapid and significant 
shift from conventional, monoculture-based and 
high-external-input-dependent industrial 
production toward mosaics of sustainable, 
regenerative production systems that also 
considerably improve the productivity of small-scale farmers."
