Passing on the message about Ecodynamic, which was launched at
Stroud Brewery on 25th January. It invests in renewable energy and .is
sponsored by the Biodynamic Land Trust, which will be an anchor
investor. John Meadley of the Pasture Fed Association is a founder
member of Ecodynamic.

You already know that I am a director of the BDLT, a charity
(IPS) that was established to secure biodynamic farmland in perpetuity
and to provide land access for young BD farmers. It was through this
that we came across a small wind turbine project that the Trust
considered investing in to provide a core income. However, weighty
anecdotal feedback followed by further investigation showed us the
widespread interest there is in investing into, and supporting such
projects.

So we set up Ecodynamic Community Benefit Society
Ltd<http://ecodynamic.org.uk>, a co-operative social business that
will own the wind turbine which will be operating by the end of April,
pay an anticipated 3 then 5% annual interest and repay the capital
investment over the 20 year life of the project. We have also applied
for the Enterprise Investment Scheme which, if granted, will give
income tax payers a 30% rebate in year one.

3 or 5% is more than people get on bank savings, so getting a
government supported income stream (feed in tariff) and your capital
back looked to us a good prospect. In addition, Ecodynamic expects
some surplus that will be invested into grassroots biodynamic,
organic, sustainable, social, farm connected businesses and in
training.

So please do pass it on!
     Bw martin
