The Government claims that the economy is in recovery but stagnating wages
mean that the majority of us aren't feeling the benefit.

Working people have become victims of low-pay Britain. In fact, real wages
have fallen so far that now, for the first time, the majority of those
living in poverty are in work - a trend that looks set to continue, unless
we act now.

This is why the Institute of Employment Rights, the Centre for Labour and
Social Studies (Class) and the North West TUC are holding an event to
discuss how we can increase pay for workers, why this is not only vital for
individuals, but for society as a whole, and what we must do to create a
fair, yet prosperous economy that works for working people.

Speakers include:-

• John Hendy QC – Institute of Employment Rights

• Tim Roache – President of Class, Regional Secretary of Yorkshire and North
Derbyshire GMB

• Professor Jill Rubery – Manchester Business School

• Professor Roger Seifert – Wolverhampton Business School

• Duncan Weldon - Trades Union Congress

This event will be followed by a reception, with refreshments provided.
