> We lead today with the agreement by delegates at Unite the Union's annual conference to call for the protection of workers' rights in post-EU Britain. See the full story in the news section below and click here for the Institute's plan for improving on workers' rights after the vote to leave the EU, which has been backed by Len McCluskey alongside other major union leaders, as well as gaining the support of Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell and Shadow Trade Union Minister Ian Lavery.
>
> We'd also like to thank everybody who attended our Durham Miners' Gala fringe with Jeremy Corbyn, and our Unite fringe this week. And if you're reading this from the Tolpuddle Festival, don't forget to drop by the marquee at 7pm this evening to hear our experts talk through our 25 policy recommendations for the next Labour government.
>
> Subscribers can now access an electronic copy of the publication for free and will receieve a hard copy in the post in the coming weeks. If you wish to subscribe to the IER for this and all of our other publications, as well as discounts on our conferences, please click here.

> We are also happy to discuss bulk offers for unions. Please contact James Harrison on office at ier.org.uk or 0151 207 5265 for further information.
>
> Under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, the Labour Party is currently more sympathetic to our cause than it has been for decades, and now the UK has voted to leave the EU, it is vitally important a viable and progressive alternative to neoliberalism is planned and executed. We will be working hard to keep up momentum on our proposals and to widen support for a more progressive future by spreading the word across the UK, but we can't do it alone.
>
> The Institute of Employment Rights is a charity that runs largely on donations. To continue promoting our manifesto and informing the labour movement and the Labour Party, we need to raise funds.
>
> We are asking for one-off donations from our supporters of whatever amount you can afford. Just over 5,600 people receive this News Brief every week. If every person donated just £10, we would raise £56,000 - enough to fund our work for the next year.
>
> Please consider offering a small amount to the cause on our donation page.
>
> Lastly, we have set up a hub on our website to keep track of all the news and updates on the Manifesto for Labour Law. Check out a preview of the publication, quotes from supportive unions, all the latest news and comment, and try our free quiz on workers' rights and the UK economy!

> How can we protect workers' rights in post-EU Britain?
>
> The Institute of Employment Rights brought together 15 leading labour lawyers and academics from some of the UK's most prestigious universities to propose 25 policy recommendations for the next Labour government. We believe the reforms we have put forward are even more crucial in post-EU Britain, where it is imperative that the redrafting of UK law is taken as an opportunity to improve the lives and rights of workers, rather than as an opening to further progress the unjust ambitions of neoliberalism.
>
> We will work tirelessly this year to raise awareness of an alternative to the programme of austerity our current government will inevitably pursue and to promote progressive reform among lawmakers. However, as a charity we are dependent on donations and we cannot do this alone.
>
> If you support our aim of raising equality for workers and creating a brighter and more sustainable future for the UK, please considerpurchasing a copy of our Manifesto for just £10 or making a donation to our cause. If everyone on our mailing list made a one-off donation of just £10 each, we would raise £56,000 - a sum that could pay for the promotion of our Manifesto for the rest of the year.

> The Conservative Government’s proposed strike ballot thresholds: The challenge to trade unions: from £6
> By Professor Ralph Darlington and Dr John Dobson
> According to the authors of this timely report, the government is attempting to rush into law ‘the most sweeping and radical tightening of rules on industrial action since the Thatcher era of the 1980’s’. They warn that such proposals could result in ‘the biggest showdown over industrial relations for a generation’ and go on to drill down into one aspect of the government’s proposals – strike ballots.

> The mythology of business: from £6
> By David Whyte
> The ‘myths’ that this publication takes into consideration are the kind of things that politicians now routinely say without thinking. Yet these 10 myths have very little foundation in reality and are rarely, if ever, accompanied with any concrete evidence to support them.
