The Sixth Annual Magdalen Occupation - for circulation
------------------------------------------------------
Sat 7th - Sun 8th October at 'Bat Willow Meadow', Magdalen College Grounds.
This virtually rural setting by the deer park in the heart of Oxford has to
be seen to be believed!
Access from Angel and Greyhound Meadow, by magdalen bridge & off St Clements.
Reclaim the Riverside!
In the 1980's a path along the Cherwell in Oxford was blocked by Magdalen
College, preventing access from Angel and Greyhound meadow to University
Parks and St Catherine's College. This path had been a natural and
well-used by-way for many years.
Since 1995 there has been an annual weekend occupation to reclaim the
riverside for all to enjoy, not just the privileged few. Join us over the
bridge from Angel and Greyhound Meadow from 12 noon on Saturday 7th to have
fun and open the debate on land use in Oxford.
Details are still being confirmed, but there will be:
Lead debate on 'Green Pathways' and developing a holistic approach to
accessing and enjoying open land in Oxford.
Discussion on who controls our cities and how to claim them back.
There will be a talk by a GM campaigner, and opportunity to take part in a
community planning exercise (what would you like to see in this area?),
talk on Iffley Fields nature reserve (discovering the natural world on your
doorstep) and a climbing and community love blanket workshop. More to be
confirmed.
It's a camping over event (Sat night). The Land is Ours yurt will be there
and at least two medium sized domes and a smaller yurt. Please bring some
food and a sleepingbag and carrymat as well as a tent if possible
