Millionaire charged with murder

The Sussex millionaire Nicholas van Hoogstraten has been charged with murder and conspiracy  to murder a former business associate.
Mohamed Sabir Raja, 62, was shot outside his home in Sutton, Surrey on 2 July 1999. 

The 56-year-old will appear at Bexleyheath magistrates court on Wednesday. 

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "We charged Mr van Hoogstraten at 1.15 today (Monday) after he returned on bail to Bexleyheath police station. 

"He was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit the murder of Mohammed Sabir Raja."

Mr van Hoogstraten made his money through property holdings and mining and owns homes in US, France and the West Indies along with his home - High Cross Lodge - in Uckfield, Essex.
