Clay Cross Council defies the law

Brillaint feature in yesterday's Morning Star (6th November) telling the story of Clay Cross Council's successful defiance of the law in 1973 to oppose the Tories Housing Finance Act, which forced up council housing rents...What a contrast with modern Labour and the Greens (here in Brighton).

Their action, and that of others like Frank Dobson (now an MP) in Camden, forced the repeal of the law when Labour came back in '74.

Only Cllr George Barratt in Barking, and a few others elsewhere, are ploughing the same furrow today, to my knowledge.

Just google 'Morning Star Clay Cross'
